Through the Pain


My People's "Through the Pain" DVD is the basis for this workshop, to assist people living in and working with Native communities to deal with the crisis of youth suicide.

"Suicide is not about wanting to die. It's about wanting to stop unbearable emotional pain." Whether in the US or Canada, Native youth suicide has become a huge problem, one to which our staff can attest.

Details: This workshop delves into root causes of suicidal thinking, particularly among First Nations people. The DVD and workshop address the myths and facts about suicide, the reasons people consider suicide, signs and symptoms and, a simple method of intervention based on the idea that we should: Ask, Listen, Help.

The DVD and workshop provide tangible tools to impact the suicide issue in the Native North American community.
